Making the Wines of the Future
Facing the challenges of climate change, winemakers strive to adapt and more and more of them have embraced environmental-friendly practices in order to protect their vineyards' long term survival. New solutions are sought, be it the mystical biodynamic approach, or the traditional organic approach, or the natural wine... All in the effort to give birth to the best quality wines. But the effort must be made by many altogether and in solidarity, in order to give its fruits. As an example, Chateau Pontet Canet, in the Medoc region of Bordeaux, became the first Grand Cru of Medoc to convert to organic practices in 2000, and then to biodynamic in 2004. Through long years of research, innovation, the domain has managed to reach a full harmony with nature and offer quality wines for its consumers, showing that it is possible for winemakers to at once respect nature and make extraordinary wines.
